What is IAS 2 training?

The IAS2 First Aid course is designed for emergency responders wishing to perfect their medical emergency management skills and review the knowledge acquired during the IAS1 course. It covers a wide range of emergency situations, with the emphasis on the appropriate first aid techniques for each critical situation.

What will I learn in this course?

  • Quickly manage and assess the emergency situation according to the X-ABCDE scheme, secure the scene, coordinate available help, and apply first aid until professional help arrives.
  • Understand your role and legal responsibilities in the event of an emergency, in accordance with Article 128 of the Swiss Penal Code.
  • Learn resuscitation techniques including cardiac massage and airway management
  • Master the use of an automated external defibrillator.
  • Recognize the warning signs and intervene quickly to prevent the serious complications associated with heart attacks and strokes.
  • Learn how to react effectively in the event of airway choking.
  • Take appropriate action in the event of major external bleeding.
  • Identify and manage seizures.
  • Adopt the right reaction in the event of spinal injuries.
  • Use appropriate techniques in the event of burns.
  • Apply measures to maintain heat and protect against the elements.
  • Identify and apply the appropriate treatment for fractures, sprains, dislocations and amputations.
  • Recognize the signs of acute respiratory illness and react accordingly.
  • Detect and manage abdominal pain.
  • React quickly to hypoglycemia.
  • Take effective action in the event of allergic reactions.
  • Take appropriate action in the event of disturbed consciousness.
  • Take appropriate action in the event of poisoning.
  • React in the event of eye damage and treat accordingly.
  • Communicate with the patient to reassure them and manage the situation appropriately.
